Due to the frustration with getting good band instrument repair service in southeastern Idaho, I opened my own shop in my home, and repaired instruments for twenty years, with expertise in brass, woodwind and percussion repairs. Upon retiring from teaching in 2000, my wife, Jerrolyn and I came to St. George to check out the climate and liked it, so we moved here. I have been repairing instruments at Music Works for three years, and it is my goal to turn repairs out as quickly as possible so that students don't have to be without them more than a couple of days. Band members without instruments are not learning or contributing their talents to the group. I still maintain an active performing schedule, playing the euphonium in the Dixie College Band, and am Principal Trombone in the Southwest Symphony, and played six seasons in the pit orchestra at Tuacahn for Broadway in the Desert. It has also been my pleasure to play in the brass ensemble with the Heritage Choir

Musical Experience:

Professional Saxophonist; US army band, 3 years in Hawaii, Okinawa, Saipan and Iwo Jima. Fronted my own professional dance band 12 years. graduate U of U with degrees in Music and in Education. Taught school music 3 Years. Music Store owner for 50 years including repair of instruments. Owned stores in Salt Lake City, Sacramento California and Saint George.

Instrument Repair Experience:

Repair technician for Army band, 2 years, String Instrument repair and Luthier for 30 years - including complete dis-assembly if necessary. Band Instrument repair 50 plus years. Instruments repaired include - Piccolos, Flutes, Oboes, Bassoons, Saxophones, Clarinets, Bass Clarinets, Trumpets, Cornets, French Horns, Trombone, Tubas, Drums, Xylaphones, Violins, Violas, Cellos, String Basses, Harps, Harpsichords, Bell Kits, Vibraphones, Baritones and Euphoniums, etc. Case repair OK if feasable.

At present, I do not have the equipment for complete re-lacquering of Band Instruments or large instrument major dent work or silver plating, but have connections ro have such work sent out for repair if needed. Touch up lacquering can be done if required.

Your repair needs can certainly be met by me unless they are extremely serious. bring your instrument in to me to inspect and i can give you a very close estimate as to the cost of the repair and the time needed to do the work.
